In today’s fast-paced world, family meal times can often become rushed and stressful. But what if there was a way to make cooking easier, healthier, and more fun for everyone? That’s exactly what I set out to achieve with my 6-week Air Fryer course, designed specifically for families looking to simplify their kitchen routines and create delicious meals with ease.
As someone who is passionate about both cooking and helping others discover the joy of meal prep, I knew the air fryer was a game-changer for families. It combines convenience, versatility, and health-conscious cooking in one compact kitchen appliance. And so, my course was born!
Week 1: Top tips and hacks
The course kicked off with an introduction to the air fryer. I wanted to ensure every family felt confident using this gadget, so we went over the basics—how it works, why it’s so great, and safety tips for using it. For many families, this was their first time using an air fryer, so I wanted to demystify it. I demoed the 20:20 adaptation rule by cooking and sharing pizza, chips and eggs. To wrap up the week, I guided families through their first air fryer recipe: cheese burger bagels. The simplicity and immediate results left everyone excited to continue!
Week 2: Superb Snacks
By week two, families were eager to explore the full potential of their air fryers. The theme of this week was “Superb snacks” — the kinds of snacks that are quick and satisfying. We focused on simple yet flavourful recipes like air fryer pizza rolls and "pop tarts".
Week 3: Spectacular Sides
As the course continued, we focused on making healthier choices using the air fryer. Families learned how to prepare healthier versions of classic favourites, such as air fryer carrot fries, roast potatoes and frozen vegetables. It was great to see the children trying and enjoying their vegetables.
Week 4: Marvellous Mains
Now we were ready to step it up a gear! Speedy but impressive meals. We made toad in the hole and halloumi and vegetable fajitas.
Week 5: Something Sweet
What’s a family meal course without a sweet treat? Week four was all about desserts. We whipped up air fryer flapjack and chocolate orange cupcakes. This week was definitely a hit with both kids and parents alike!
Week 6: Trending Treats...plus a BIG gift to take home!
The final week of the course was dedicated to trending recipes. Plus I provided the opportunity for the families to bring along their own ingredients if they wanted to. We made nachos and s'mores. Plus those that brought their own ingredients made chocolate cake and meringue. Then for the grande finale families got to take an air fryer home along with a trivet and silicon oven gloves.
The Results: Families in the Kitchen Together
By the end of the 6 weeks, it was clear that this course had a profound impact on the families involved. They felt more confident in the kitchen, more organized with their meal planning, and excited to try new recipes together.
But perhaps the most rewarding part was seeing families reconnecting around the dinner table, sharing healthy, homemade meals they had created together. The air fryer had not only simplified their cooking processes but also made mealtime fun, interactive, and delicious.
Final Thoughts
Teaching this 6-week Air Fryer course for families has been one of the most fulfilling experiences of my career. I’ve watched parents, kids, and even teenagers discover a love for cooking and healthy eating. It’s a reminder that cooking doesn’t have to be difficult or time-consuming to be enjoyable. With the air fryer, families can transform their mealtime routines and create moments of connection, even on the busiest days.
If you're looking to make your family meals simpler, healthier, and more fun, I highly recommend giving the air fryer a try. Whether you're new to the appliance or already have one collecting dust, there’s so much more it can offer.
Stay tuned for future courses and tips to keep your kitchen adventures going!
