Amanda won place on Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food Training Scheme to help local community

ree

I (Amanda Harrison RN) have always had a huge passion for helping the local community, and I am excited to share that I have won a place on the Jamie Oliver Ministry of Food Training scheme. The training is set to the begin in February 2024. After a meeting with the local Witham Fusion Leisure Centre, I found out that they are going to utilise my skills by me teaching secondary school aged children how to cook via the local Essex Activate Scheme.

It has never been more important to educate people about our food system, food and how to cook it.

In the UK, cooking skills used to be passed down from generation to generation, but now millions of

people lack even the most basic knowledge to make a simple meal from scratch.

At Jamie Oliver they believe that everyone should have the opportunity to be healthy and eat nutritious and affordable food, no matter where they live. From teaching cooking skills in local communities to lobbying for government action with the young campaigners at BiteBack 2030, they are fighting for a healthy future for all.

Jamie’s Ministry of Food (MOF) campaign was launched in 2008 in Rotherham, with the mission of

teaching people how to cook and eat and to improve their long-term health and wellbeing. Today

Jamie’s Ministry of Food is the largest community cooking programme in the UK. Trained Ministry of

Food teachers inspire thousands of people to cook from scratch every year in centres and through

Outreach Programmes across the UK & Australia too. We have taught over 100,000+ people to cook.

So, there are exciting times ahead. I will keep you posted on how this venture goes. If you are interested in any information please contact Amanda at hello@healthymedeasy.co.uk.
