Danbury Leisure Centre Community Health Fair

Healthy Med Easy have been running Mediterranean diet and lifestyle group classes since January 2023. These run on Wednesdays 12.30-1.30pm term time at St Barnabas Hall, Claud Ince Avenue, Cressing, Braintree CM77 8HJ. It costs £5 per session, on a pay as you go basis (a one of £5 registration is required in the first session). Plus, you can help yourself to hot drinks, and there is plenty of free parking available. Bring and Share is 26th April 2023. All are welcome.

On Saturday 22nd April 2023, Healthy Med Easy was invited to do a table at the Community Health Fair at Danbury Leisure Centre. The Danbury Health Fair is a free event to help the community to gather information regarding health services available in the area. There was a free health screening check completed by NHS Provide nurses and health advice from local doctors. Examples of attendees were; Diabetes UK, Action for Carers, United in Kind, Citizens Advice and the Community Safety Officers from Essex Police and Essex Fire Services. There were lots of opportunities to get advice, ideas to improve health, plus lots of freebies.

As it was a weekend, and children are not in school. I took the opportunity to focus on family health. I had some fabulous free colouring and activities for the children to do. There was a particularly good cut, colour and stick salad bowl sheet. I also had free colourful balloons, bubbles, plastic snake toys, bags, key rings and notebooks. The balloons, plastic snakes and notebooks were a highlight.

I also informed visitors to my stall about the Mediterranean Diet and Lifestyle groups being run in Cressing. There was a lot of interest, especially around joining in with the Bring and Share session this coming week. However, the Danbury locals wanted a group class in Danbury! The Danbury Community Health Fairs are generally done twice a year. I am pleased to say that Healthy Med Easy have been invited back to the next event.
